Clean, quality shop:

Heather prides herself in using high quality products and striving to be the cleanest shop in town. Her tattoo room has been described as looking like a doctor's office or dentist's office and she tends to be a bit OCD about cleanliness and sterility. She uses almost exclusively Intenze Inks which are made in the USA and are vegan. She also uses Mast Archer Wireless tattoo machines that are rotary pen style. Heather is left handed and stands out from the crowd because she has no tattoos herself. She tattoos for the art, not the image. By being extremely clean, offering quality custom tattoos, and refusing to fit the typical mold of a tattoo artist, Heather is making a name for herself. Her kindness and cutomer service skills alone make her different from many of the tattoo artists you meet. She has a "the customer is always right" mentality and works hard to make everyone happy and comfortable. You even get to pick what kind of music you want to listen to or what streaming TV show/movie you want to watch while getting your tattoo.  Don't take our word for it! Visit her Yelp page and see all the amazing reviews she receives!

Aftercare Instructions

FIRST DAYS/OOZING (to prevent harmful scabbing):

1. Make sure hands are clean. Use antibacterial soap on your hands only.

2. Remove covering after 3-4 hours.

3. Wash your tattoo with lukewarm to cool water. Remove all coagulate by gently rubbing with water and your clean hand. We prefer you not use soap on your fresh tattoo, but if you insist; soap products like Camphor, Ivory (no added fragrance to irritate), or “Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castille Soap” are good cleaning soaps. Please avoid antibacterial soaps except on your hands before washing your tattoo. Pump containers are best as it prevents contamination.

4. Blot dry with a clean paper towel. Do not use your bathroom’s cloth towel as it contains bacteria.

5. Air-dry for 10 -15 minutes or pat dry with a paper towel

6. Apply a thin coat of ointment. THIN is the key word! Aquaphor and A&D are the most common. Please do not use over 50% petroleum based (like Vasaline) or medicated ointments (like Neosporin).

7. Repeat every 4 hours for the first 2 to 3 days until oozing subsides. You don’t need to get up in the middle of the night to rinse/add ointment. Before you go to bed and when you wake up is ine.

8. Do not re-bandage tattoo. There are only a few times when you may need to cover the tattoo. If your tattoo is still oozing when it comes time for bed, you will want to protect your sheets as well as your tattoo. Cover the tattoo with a clean item of clothing before bed. Also if there is imminent risk of contamination, cover it only when risk is active, and uncover as soon as risk has passed. Don’t forget sweat is full of bacteria. Act accordingly.

NOTE: Although ointment is good to help you heal; in the first few days you must NEVER reapply ointment without washing your tattoo first. Ointment, while protecting your tattoo, also acts as a dirt and germ magnet. If you don’t wash the old stuff off before applying new, you are rubbing these contaminants into a fresh wound.

AFTER OOZING HAS STOPPED (2-3 days after getting tattoo):

1. Stop ointment and apply thin layer of unscented lotion 1 or 2 times a day to prevent over drying. If you experience pain, burning, or redness from first lotion application, rinse it off immediately and continue rinses and ointment application for one more day.

2. Don’t touch or play with your tattoo while it is healing, and don’t let anyone else get their dirty hands on it, either. It needs to stay clean to prevent infection. Only your attention and care can guarantee this.

3. Do not pick at scabs or dried skin while your tattoo is healing.

4. Do not scratch or abrade. If it itches terribly, a quick, stinging slap will alleviate the itch for a while.

5. While your tattoo is healing, you will also need to cover it during any time in which you’re in an environment where there is a risk of your tattoo becoming contaminated. If you’re not sure whether the tattoo should be covered, it probably should be. A Teflon coated bandage or very clean cloth is best here, because clear plastic holds in too much moisture. Loosely bandage and cover with clothing!

The treatment of your tattoo in the first few weeks is the most important time in its life!

FOR 2 WEEKS,

DO NOT: Soak your new tattoo by swimming, going in a hot tub, or taking a bath; use hydrogen peroxide or rubbing alcohol on your tattoo; itch, pick, or scratch the tattoo; participate in activities that will make you sweat; expose your tattoo to sunlight; let your tattoo come in contact with animals or dirt/dust.

DO: Take a shower but be careful not to soak; stay out of the sun until your tattoo has healed completely; apply sun block to tattoo after it has healed and limit sun exposure (extended exposure to UV rays will cause fading for the life of the tattoo)

IF AT ANY POINT DURING THE HEALING PROCESS, YOU EXPERIENCE ANY INFECTION SYMPTOMS, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, REDNESS, SWELLING, TENDERNESS OF THE PROCEDURE SITE, RED STREAKS GOING FROM THE PROCEDURE SITE TOWARDS THE HEART, ELEVATED BODY TEMPERATURE, OR PURULENT DRAINAGE FROM THE PROCEDURE SITE, SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY!

I HAVE READ AND AGREED TO THESE AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS. I KNOW FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES CAN RESULT IN PERMANENT DAMAGE TO MY TATTOO AND/OR INFECTION. HEATHER PILAPIL’S TATTOO WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY PROBLEMS RESULTING FROM POOR AFTERCARE.
