Here's another piece painted by Heather in her college days when she was still Heather Badger. The home she was renting had a window that only let the sunlight of the sunset stream through two days a year for just a few minutes due to surrounding buildings and trees. She was in the right place at the right time to capture some quick pictures of it hitting a disco ball her boyfriend (now husband) had hung there. She loved how the light hit the ball and scattered sparkles all over the white walls and how, in that moment, the white walls appeared all sorts of tones and colors due to the setting sunlight. She used those pictures to paint this painting for a college project. Heather spent weeks with a compass, ruler, and protractor getting all the angles of all the little mirrors to get everything just so. Not bad for a fleeting moment, was it? Now it's immortalized in traditional oil paint (real pigments, not synthetic) on canvas that should last centuries if cared for.
