This is one of Heather's earliest full color paintings done nearly two decades ago. In college, Heather and her classmates were often sent off to do plein aire paintings (paintings done outdoors from life). Working this way can be difficult due to the shifting light and shadows from earth's rotation. This day, she went into the school parking lot and found a tire someone had left leaning againt the retaining wall with no nearby accompanying vehicle to claim it. She painted it quickly before the sun and shadows moved too much and was very happy and proud of the result.
