Two Dresses, No Pattern: The Sewing Journey Behind My Tailoring Services

Self-taught since 2023 — from drafting two dresses without a pattern to offering tailoring and alterations

I taught myself to sew back in 2023, and it's turned into one of my favorite creative outlets. My biggest project so far: two dresses, one purple and one black, that I designed and sewed completely from scratch — no pattern. I had an old dress I loved that was falling apart, so I used it as my guide and drafted my own version instead. It took four months from start to finish (January through May this year), and I wear them all the time.

Somewhere in there, word started to spread. Family and clients began asking me to add zippers to hoodies or sew backings onto their finished cross-stitch pieces — little requests here and there, just me helping people out with a skill I loved using. But it kept happening, and it got me thinking: this could be something more.

So alongside my tattoo and art work, I now officially offer tailoring and alterations. It felt like a natural extension of what I already love about tattooing and art — paying close attention to detail and creating something that fits a person's exact vision, whether that's on skin, canvas, or fabric.

• My specialty: custom pocket additions — adding functional or decorative pockets to pieces that don't have them, or weren't made quite the way you wanted
